Become a Guardian Home

Become a Guardian Home with Skai's the Limit LLC

At Skai’s the Limit LLC, we believe every dog deserves to live as a cherished member of a loving family, regardless of whether they are part of our breeding program.

Our breeding dogs are raised either in our own home or with carefully selected local Guardian Homes. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are highly social and thrive in close-knit, family-oriented environments. By partnering with Guardian Families, we can raise our dogs in warm, home-based settings instead of kennel facilities.

Why Become a Guardian Family?

Our Guardian Families are entrusted with top-quality Cavalier King Charles Spaniels—selected specifically for their outstanding temperaments and adherence to breed standards. As a Guardian Family, you’ll receive a dog or puppy that has been chosen for its exceptional qualities.

Before joining our breeding program, your Guardian dog will undergo full health testing at no cost to you. You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of our breeding journey, seeing the puppies of your dog bring happiness to families across the country, just as your own Guardian dog brings joy to yours.

Requirements to Qualify as a Guardian Home

To ensure the well-being and proper care of our dogs, we have specific criteria for Guardian Homes:

  • Must reside within 40 minutes of our location
  • Must own your home and have a securely fenced yard
  • Your dog must be primarily indoors and never left outdoors unsupervised
  • Reliable transportation is essential
  • Your schedule should allow for minimal alone time for the dog

We also require Guardian dogs to:

  • Be fed Life’s Abundance Grain-Free All Life Stages food
  • Receive regular veterinary care through an approved provider
  • Be professionally groomed every 2 months
  • Complete obedience training (Puppy, Novice, Advanced) and pass the Canine Good Citizen test by age 1

Most Guardian dogs will be females, though we may occasionally have a male available.

Types of Guardianship

Young Adult or Mature Dogs

If you're matched with an older Guardian dog, she will arrive already health tested. She may have a limited number of breedings remaining based on her age and prior litters. Once retired, she will be spayed and remain your permanent pet.

When a Guardian dog enters her heat cycle, you must notify us right away. Her cycle typically lasts 14–21 days. During this time, we’ll coordinate visits for breeding purposes. After breeding, she will stay with you until about a week before her due date, then return to us for whelping and puppy care. After weaning—about seven weeks—she will return to your home. Guardian Families are welcome to schedule visits while she is in our care.

Guardian Home Puppies

If you're receiving a Guardian puppy, she will join your family at 8 weeks old. During her first year, we will complete all required health testing. Once testing is complete, we’ll determine if she will enter the breeding program.

If we choose not to breed her, we will spay her at our expense and she will remain with you as your family companion.

We ask that Guardian Families send monthly photos and updates during the first year. We also schedule occasional home visits to evaluate her progress and build familiarity, so she’s comfortable when staying with us in the future.

Information and Application

If you meet the above criteria and are interested in joining our Guardian Program, please complete the application below. Due to the time and care we devote to our dogs and families, we kindly ask that only qualified applicants reach out. We are firm in our requirements.

We are incredibly grateful for our Guardian Families and are always looking for responsible, committed homes.

Please note: We are currently only accepting Guardian applications from families within a 40-mile radius of Uniontown, OH—no exceptions.

Dogs in our Guardian Program remain the property of Skai’s the Limit LLC and are not for sale.
